All healthcare professionals in Illinois, including dentists and dental hygienists, are required to complete a one-hour course in implicit bias awareness training. Implicit bias is a form of bias that occurs automatically and unintentionally, that nevertheless affects judgements, decisions, and behaviors. This requirement will be in effect for the 2024 renewal cycle. Dr. Tsipursky’s expertise comes from over 20 years of consulting, coaching, speaking, and training for innovative startups, major nonprofits, and Fortune 500 companies. He also wrote a global best-seller on effective professional and personal relationships, called The Blindspots Between Us: How to Overcome Unconscious Cognitive Bias and Build Better Relationships (New Harbinger, 2020). Based on an emergency proclamation issued by the Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulations, Illinois dentists are allowed administer the COVID-19 vaccine in the dental office once they have take the proper course. Illinois dentists are also allowed to administer the influenza vaccine in the dental office after they have taken the proper training. This four hour course meets all of the requirements mandated by IDFPR. It is broken down into a 3 hour video, and a 45 minute quiz.
