This course is designed to inform the participant about various oral pathologic lesions of the oral cavity. The oral health care professional should be able to identify common lesions and understand how to manage patients with such conditions.
Approximately 54,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year, and one will die from it every 24 hours. Oral cancers can develop on your tongue, gums, inside of your lips or cheeks, the floor or roof of your mouth, tonsils, or throat. On average, 64 percent of those with the disease will survive more than 5 years. This course will help dental professionals take better care of their patients, help them avoid litigation, and stress the importance of our profession to take ownership of the disease.
